Todmorden Tigers, the junior football club sponsored by ESL, have enjoyed another amazing season!
Talented youngsters at the club, which fields teams in the under 9s, under 10s and under 11s leagues, have won an impressive number of tournaments, shields and trophies in recent months including the Calderdale Shield (Under 9’s), The Elland Road Tournament (Under 9’s and Under 10’s) and The Calderdale Cup (Under 10’s).
Based in Todmorden, the team trains at the local Centre Vale Park and regularly participates in friendly games as well as competitive tournaments with teams in neighbouring districts.
The team members have all grown up together coming from various different schools within Todmorden and nearby areas. They compete and train together on a weekly basis and have big plans to continue their winning streak, eventually making it to Elland Road and claiming the trophy – once again! To such a small local team, winning at Elland Road was a huge achievement and helped boost team morale, reassuring the players they could achieve so much more!
ESL have been very privileged to be able to sponsor Todmorden Tigers for the second year running and plan to continue doing so!
Said David Winstanley, ESL’s Managing Director: “I have always enjoyed watching Todmorden Tigers play local teams, and was delighted when I discovered how ESL’s sponsorship was a great help to the club, it just made us more keen to continue our support.”
Said Dave Thompson, the team’s manager: “ESL’s sponsorship is vital to the success of the club as it contributes to the cost of football shirts, travel costs and much more.”
